Hi Colette, I'm so glad you like this painting. The character and history of the sponge divers really interested me and this man had a wonderful story about diving to great depths with a rock tied around his leg to help him sink to the bottom so as to collect sponges. I just had to paint him. Thanks again for featuring in Favourites. I really appreciate it.
