Sea Hill Houses - SOLD
Artist
Therese Alcorn
Medium
Painting - Oil On Board
Description
Part of my Sea Hill Series, this old house was once the Pilot Captain's house when Sea Hill was a pilot station in the 1950's/60's. My family, amongst others, lived on the island and had a largely self-sufficient lifestyle by fishing and tending goats for milk and meat. Regrettably, my family moved to the mainland when I was about 5 years old. Curtis Island and the surrounding waters are presently under threat from heavy industry in Gladstone, including a Coal Seam Gas Processing Plant on Curtis Island. Also, plans for a coal loading terminal at nearby Port Alma, which will have a detrimental effect on this pristine environment.
